The capital of the department is the bustling city of Nice, situated on the famous Cote d'Azur. Other sites that you can visit from your cottage in Alpes-Maritmes are the seaside resort of Beaulieu-sur-Mer, the picturesque mountain town of Biot, the Cap Ferrat peninsula or the last town before the Italian border, Menton. The bulk of Alpes-Maritimes consists of mountains. To the north lies the Mercantour National Park and on the southern side of this are the valleys of the UpperVar, Tinée and Vésubie, all with beautiful flora and fauna.
