Pays-de-la-Loire

 

The Pays de la Loire welcomes you for a wonderful holiday. It is the only region in France with the word 'Pays' in them, this indicates that people feel strongly connected to the region. Pays de la Loire literally translated 'Lands of the Loire River'. Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, with a coastline of 450 km, with a combination of rural architecture and many historical sites you will not be bored during your holiday in Pays de la Loire.

 

COTTAGE IN PAYS DE LA LOIRE

Be guided by the Loire River, the largest French World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You will fall in love with this beautiful territory with forested islands, vast meadows and salt marshes. The Loire Valley is known for its rich cultural heritage: the castles of Blois, Amboise and Chambord are some examples. The area is ideal for hiking, there is even a special cycle route of 800 kilometers long and runs through the Loire Valley.

The vineyards around Nantes presents delicious wines including Muscadet, Coteaux du Loire and Anjou. The port city of Nantes is the capital of the region. Discover the Botanical Garden, the St. Peter Cathedral. Also visit the Museum of fine Arts and the richest district, the Graslin quarter.

 

HOLIDAY IN PAYS DE LA LOIRE

The cities of Angers and Saumur should not be middes during your holiday in Pays de la Loire. In Angers you can visit the Saint Maurice Cathedral and the 'Maison d'Adam', a stylish timber framed house adorned with carvings. The town of Saumur is known for the castle of Saumur, in the 14th and 15th century, the catle-palace of the Dukes of Anjou. The city is also known for horse riding; here is located the National Horse Riding School «Le Cadre Noir».

A unique experience is the 24 Hours of Le Mans, one of the biggest races in the world. The first edition took place in 1923, at the Circuit de la Sarthe with a lenght of 13.629 km.
